Deep sump oil strainer caps

Deep sump cover

The 996R/998S/998R/749R/999R/earlyS4RS models (and others?) with the deep sump have an oil strainer cover like the one in the photo. As you can see on the one in the photo these can suffer from road rash as there isn't really sufficient ground clearance. I know of one that holed the cover after landing from a hump back bridge. Fortunately the owner heard the crunch and stopped to find the oil oozing out. The 1098 uses a slightly different strainer and flat cover plate giving approx 20mm more ground clearance and these can be retrofitted. Costs approx £30 to change so well worth doing.
